There is nothing that makes you feel more pampered then going to a spa for a facial. Being able to just lie on a table and let someone slather magical potions on your skin as you listen to ocean waves and a mini water fountain in the background is a little vacation and total escape from whatever was bothering you before you stepped into the spa.
Many women, either with children or full-time careers, find it difficult to make time for a spa treatment away from home and forego the rejuvinating benefits. However, an at-home facial can be just as relaxing aned rewarding if you follow these simple guidelines for a successful at home spa-treament.
- Set-up. Decide where is the best place to do your treament - usually a bathroom. Clean your bathroom to make sure it feels sparkling clean and spa-like. Hang up fresh towels, open the windows if weather permits; light a scented candle or incese to create a relaxing mood.
- Choose what kind of treatment you’d like to do beforehand and gather all the necessary tools and ingredients, place them on a specialtable or bamboo tray to make it feel more authentic. Some special tools are:
- Facials - Special facials from your favorite skin care line of products.
- Fresh towels.
- Toners.
- Cotton pads soaked in water or rosewater and crushed cucumber to place over your eyes during the treatment.
- Special round facial sponges for cleansing your skin prior to facial and after.
- Choose what kind of treatment you’d like to do beforehand and gather all the necessary tools and ingredients, place them on a specialtable or bamboo tray to make it feel more authentic. Some special tools are:
- Begin by removing all make-up including eye-makeup with your usual cleanser. Rinse with tepid water. Then soak a hand towel in lukewarm water, wring it out so that it is just slightly damp and place over your face for about ten seconds.
- Next, apply your facial treatment.
- Place the cotton pads soaked in rosewater over your eyes as you lay down somewhere comfortable while your facial is taking place. Let it sit for 15 minutes or more. Give yourself enough time to truly relax and for the ingredients to work the skin.
- When the time is up, remove the cotton pads, and rinse facial off with tepid water and the facial sponges. Take care to thoroughly rinse all product from your skin without tugging or srubbing the skin. Pat the skin dry with a fresh towel and then soak another fresh towel in warm water, wring it out and place it gently over your entire face.
- Next use a mild (alcohol-free) facial toner, avoid the eye area.
- Finish with a luxurious facial moisturizer, patting gently over your entire face.
When cleaning up keep all of the items in the same place together so that you can easily do another facial again soon. Enjoy!
