Oily Skin: The Never Ending Battle
Aug 12th, 2007 by DermaChick
Those who have been blessed and cursed with oily skin have probably tried everything they could get their hands on to make their skin act more normal, less shiny and overall less oily. The fact is that oily skin can only be managed, not changed or “cured”, as is best handled gently. Many people with oily skin tent to use harsh drying toners and lotions to get their skin to behave more normally only to discover that their skin is still oily and now irritated, dry on the surface and flaky. This is a common error that can wreak havoc with the skin over time if the irritation continues. The best way to handl oily skin is through gentle skin care products, non-drying but not too emollient either. Oily skin does not need any added moisturizer unless dryness occurs in the winter months at which point a light oil-free moisturizer will work nicely.
The best way to manage oily skin is with a powder foundation, powder blus and oil blotting facial tissues.
